Fall Fell 7-Mile Trail Run 10/13/2013 (Sun) 9:00 a.m. Shelter #1, Kill Creek Park Olathe, KS 7th Annual Please show up at least 30 minutes prior to 9 a.m. $15 entry fee.
(Includes chip-timing and logo'd mug). $20, day of race.
Inclimate Weather Instructions: The trail race will become a partially-paved
event, if the trails are deemed to be too muddy, or if there are high winds or lightning. We may not know, until the day of
the event, but we WILL RUN. In 2012, we ran a modified course, which was about 5 miles, because of this. Why is mud (on these trails) a concern?
These trails are built and maintained as a "labor of love" by ERTA with a lot of volunteer help. They are constructed for the purpose as "tri-use trails," made for mountain-biking,
hiking, and trailrunning. We don't want to run on them when they are muddy, because we could damage them and
initiate even more serious erosion issues. We help to fund these trails, and Bad Ben is an ERTA Board Member, so this policy WILL BE ENFORCED.

Race Director's Report
Another fun and inexpensive Trail Nerd / MudBabe event! And nobody
took a wrong turn, this year.
Thanks to (Bad Ben's MudBabe) Sophia Wharton, for marking the course with me on Saturday, and
for providing about 50 pairs of Mizuno socks to give away. Thanks to Wael Sammur and Dave Salvavitch for being
course guides. Thank you Mel Baldridge for helping at registration, and for the MudBabes that helped too...(Hayley,
et al). Thanks again to Dick Ross, for the wonderful water crossing photos. And special thanks to Eric Viera for
sticking around to de-mark with me. We had it all wrapped up by 1 p.m.
Happy trails,
Bad Ben

2009 Event
We had a nice little race, this Sunday. Everybody seemed
to have a good time. Nobody got lost, but they did all get their feet wet.
There were donuts. There was coffee. There were
free Mizuno socks given to every finisher, by Sophia Wharton (except for the K-9 competitors...sniff...woof).
No records were broken, but neither were any bones.
Thanks to Brad Bishop and Travis Kierre, for marking the course with me on Saturday.
Thanks to Dallas Henry and Asher Kyger for helping out here and there, and for keeping the runners going in the right direction.
And thanks to my girlfriend Sophia for helping me de-mark the course and for doing results and a lot of etceteras.
Happy trails,
Bad Ben
PS: Thanks to our generous entrants, we raised $50 extra for ERTA, in addition
to the race's donation.

2007 Event:
This was the first-ever off-pavement trail running event at Kill Creek Park.
It was a low-key FUN trail race, like many of our smaller events. The Kill Creek Trail system is fairly technical, and has
roots, rocks and two stream crossings, during our race. It's a beautiful park...you need to check it out, if you haven't
been there before.
We raised $214 for ERTA for trail maintenance, despite our low $8 entry fee. Many gave more than $8,
and we kept expenses low.
We gave away some nice running-related stuff from Garry Gribble's Running
Sports, and a pair of shoes from Vasque.
Many thanks to the volunteers, and to Shane Jones for helping me mark the
course the night before. I've never known a guy that could keep a cigar lit while running on the "Eddy Trail" with his hands
full.
Happy trails, Bad Ben
