The Kansas City Area has been hit-and-miss over the years regarding trail
running shoes, but recently THINGS HAVE CHANGED!
Garry Gribble's Running Sports in Overland Park, KCMO,
and Independence, MO now has Montrails , LaSportiva brand, Vasque, Mizuno, and others. Garry is making quite
an investment in trail-running.
Red Wing Shoe Store in Mission, Kansas stocks
Vasque Trail Running Shoes and has supported our Psycho WyCo race for two years. Vasque is also the
main sponsor for our Trailrunning Series in 2007.
Willie Lambert of Great Plains Running Company in Topeka
has a few lines of trailrunning shoes, including Keen, Montrail, Merrel, Brooks, Mizuno and other brands. Soon he will have INOV8's,
also. It's a regular cornucopia of trailrunning shoes. If you have a chance, go check it out. His store
opened in September of 2006.
Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop in Lawrence, KS
carries Garmont, Northface, and Vasque trailrunning shoes, also.
Metro Walk & Run in Overland Park and North KCMO
doesn't normally carry a line of trail shoes. Dave McGuire at the 95th St location is an experienced trailrunner. He
can special order any of the Brooks, Mizuno, Asics, and Saucony trailrunning shoes. Talk to Dave.
Please patronize your local merchants. It's also nice to actually
be able to try-on your shoes before purchasing them.
