Alternate Chili Run...
"A Taste of Psycho WyCo"
(a 10-mile hilly trail run)
**10th Annual**
At Shelter #1, (across from the James P Davis Center),
Wyandotte County Lake Park
Kansas City, KS
8:00 AM
This year, we WILL have finish times, and a marked course.

Come run this challenging, but low-key off-pavement trail run on the same day as the MARA Chili Run.  This is  a fun run in the wild!  It will be on the same course as the Psycho Wyco Run Toto Run course.

This year is the 10th Anniversary year (for doing an announced and organized run), and we're doing something special.  The first 108 entries will get a commemorative mug, and everybody will get hot chocolate.

This year, the course will be marked and we'll have chip timing!  It's only $10 to sign-up in advance, and $15 on race day.  So...$10 for 10 miles on the 10th anniversary!
Do it NOW: Click Here for Online Entry

We will start and finish in the Shelter #1 area...and please try to park near shelter 1 (across from the James P Davis Center).

All "Alternate Chili Run" proceeds will go toward trail maintenance activities, (after expenses).  If you can give more than the entry fee, that would be appreciated.
Please bring your old running shoes, also. The shoes are collected for charity.

Directions to James P Davis Ctr, Wyandotte County Lake, and where we will park:
From I-435 (West side of Metro), take the Leavenworth Rd exit. Head east, then take a left at N 91st St (you will see a sign); take a RIGHT at East Drive when entering the park. You will travel for about 1 or 2 miles and then pull into the shelter #1 area, across from the lot of the James P Davis Center.
Eat chili and cookies after the run, courtesy of our friends at MARA for an extra $5 fee.

It has snowed for many of the last 11 years, and was icy in 2006, so expect the same.  If it is snowy and icy, you can do what we do for superior Winter traction...you can SCREW YOUR SHOES.  See how, HERE.

Click Here to get a map to the entrance to the park.

Alt Chili Run FAQ:
How much is the run?
$10 in advance, which the Trail Nerds will use for 2013 trail maintenance.
Are there bib numbers?
Yes!  And chip timing. Pick-up bib numbers at the trail run start, on race morning.
Where does this startd & finish?
At shelter #1, across from the James P Davis Center.
How will I know where I'm going?
There will be markings at any intersection where you have to make a choice, and little pink flags to keep you on course.
Where are the bathrooms?
PortaPotties at shelter 1, bathrooms at shelter 2, and also in the James P. Davis Center.
Will there be water stations?
Yes...self-service water in three spots, about 3 miles apart, each.  You still might want to take your own water, though.
Will non trail shoes work on this course?
Sure, but trail shoes are a big help.
What is the course like?
It is the same loop as the Winter Psycho/Toto race and consists of quite a bit of bridle trails. You'll have to head down some pretty steep treacherous stuff, but that's part of the fun. This is the traditional course for our big February run.
Where is the Chili?
In the James P Davis center. Pay $5 to MARA and enjoy.
